Thank you L.T. for helping to bring TCU football back...
When I came to TCU in the fall of 2000, the football team was on the rise and there was a lot of internal hype surrounding the program – specifically a rising senior running back. Entering that season there was a grass roots Heisman campaign. The season ended with LaDainian Tomlinson rushing for 2,158 yards and 22 touchdowns but the voters in their infinite wisdom gave the award to Chris Weinke. L.T. is proof that a great player can emerge from any university - even one that is precluded from a BCS championship game. He gave TCU instant credibility and was one of the catalysts of the program's resurrection.
Thank you L.T. for giving NFL fans so many great performances...
While his career at TCU was magical, his pro career makes him a lock for the Hall of Fame. He was drafted 5th overall in the 2001 NFL Draft in a de facto trade for Michael Vick between the Chargers and Falcons. Tomlinson currently holds the NFL record for touchdowns in a season, rushing touchdowns in a season, points in a season, consecutive touchdowns in a game and consecutive multi-touchdown games.
Thank you L.T. for the man you are off the field...
In a league that suffers from its' players criminal transgressions, Tomlinson made headlines with his football skills and service work. He and his wife are actively involved in charity and other philanthropies in the San Diego community. He started the LT Foundation and conducts himself as a gentleman both on and off the field. He married his college sweetheart and is a family man.
Thank you L.T. for maintaining a relationship with TCU...
By all accounts, Tomlinson has done everything he could to help promote TCU. He has returned to Fort Worth for various home games, made appearances at several bowl games and always seems to be available for an interview to speak about the current Frogs. In a league where players more often than not claim their high school, L.T. never misses an opportunity to plug TCU. LaDainian Tomlinson is my ‘go-to' answer when Joe College Football Fan asks "What is TCU?" David and Kevin have written about their frustration with TCU's lack of national attention, but what little notoriety there is can be mostly attributed to L.T.
Thank you L.T. – because TCU cannot say it enough.
